Theta Delta Chi's National Philanthropy: Autism Speaks U

Theta Delta Chi's brothers have joined forces with Autism Speaks, the nation's largest autism awareness and advocacy nonprofit organization, to help improve the quality of life for children and adults affected by the disorder through Autism Speaks U. As the national philanthropy for Theta Delta Chi, Autism Speaks U will provide Charges with resources and support for college campus-based awareness and fundraising activities, and Brothers will also have access to Autism Speaks U students and faculty on college campuses across the country.

Autism Speaks U

Autism Speaks U, an initiative of Autism Speaks, is designed to support college students, alumni and faculty in their awareness, advocacy and fundraising efforts. Autism Speaks U's inaugural event took place at Penn State University in 2006 and was launched as a national program in 2008.

Autism Speaks U events have raised over $1 million, and student organized Walk Now for Autism Speaks teams have brought in millions more. There are over 55 official Autism Speaks U chapters across the U.S. and Canada.

Opportunities to Participate

Walk Now for Autism Speaks, the nation's largest grassroots autism Walk program, isWalk Now For Autism Speaks
Autism Speaks' signature fundrasing and awareness event. Families, friends, students, corporate partners and local businesses come together to heighten public awareness and raise funds for autism research. There are over 90 walks across North America and all Theta Delta Chi brothers will have the opportunity to volunteer and participate in their nearby Walk. Autism Speaks Field staff, will also provide local support to the Theta Delta Chi Charges.

Autism Speaks U DodgeBrawl

Autism Speaks U DodgeBrawl, the signature event created for Theta Delta Chi, is a
tournament for Charges to host during Fall 2012. It will be hosted by the Charge and a least one sorority of their choosing, and any additional Greek organizations and student clubs. The tournament raises funds for Autism Speaks U and promotes autism awareness. Teams compete in various components to earn points and ultimately become the Autism Speaks U DodgeBrawl winner!

Proceeds for this year's crescent run went directly to the local Girls on the Run Organization in Maricopa County. The Girls on the Run Organization is a non-profit prevention program that inspires girls, 3rd through 8th grade, to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running. The Girls on the Run program combines training for a 5K event with an education on how to live a healthy life. The 12-week program addresses all aspects of girls' development– their physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual well-being.
